Many pupils from Shoreham Village School do not experience national and international travel. Learning a foreign language provides an opening to other cultures and enables pupils ot develop a range of transferrable skills eg decoding. At our school we will provide a high-quality languages education that will foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. The teaching will enable pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond to its speakers, both in speech and in writing. It will also provide opportunities for them to communicate for practical purposes, learn new ways of thinking and read literature in the original language. Language teaching at Shoreham, will provide the foundation for learning further languages, equipping pupils to study and work in other countries.
We teach French to all of our pupils.
